UPDATE for Tucscon Catalina Unit Visitation

UPDATE as of 4/21/08

It was brought to my attention last night that this blog has gotten more than a few people at ADC pretty upset. Apparently at least one regular visitor received a phone call yesterday regarding the problems with visitation at the Tucson-Catalina Unit. According to my source, the deputy warden of that unit - Blanca Ochoa - insists that she wants to work with both the inmates and the visitors to improve upon the current conditions. She acknowledged that some of the problems should be fixed and asked for an opportunity to address the issues that have not been brought to her attention until now. DW Ochoa deems this blog as "unfair" since since she did not know about most of the issues and therefore could not fix them until now. We appreciate the fact the both the Warden and the Deputy Warden at the Tucson-Catalina Unit are holding the CO's there accountable for their actions and plan to act on any complaints that can be substantiated. It's refreshing to see a DW so willing to work with the general public and we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to her. This blog will continue to be updated with any changes that occur in visitation and we ask that our viewers continue to submit comments about their experiences, both positive and negative. Thank you!

I don't think visitation is any better. CO Hayes was worse than ever this past weekend. She's walking around like her balls were snipped off and now she's trying to bust every one for every thing!

I don't think anything is better with CO Glenn during visitation hours. He still hides behind the "visitation policy" to harrass inmates and visitors. He told me that I cannot rest my head on my hands during visitation anymore. Apparently, he thinks that if you rest your head in your hands or are resting your head on the table, you are not sitting up and that not sitting up is against the rules. Here again, CO Glenn only proves that he has no idea what the rules are and why the rules are there. There is no security risk for resting your head during the visit and THERE IS NO RULE THAT SAYS THAT YOU CAN'T! When you put your head on the table it is NOT considered lying down!! That is ridiculous!! If you visit for 7 or more hours and you spend 2 to 4 hours in the car, it seems pretty reasonable that you would be tired and may need to rest your head for a few minutes here and there. As long as you are not doing anything inappropriate, you should not be picked on! When is CO Glenn going to start leaving people alone?? especially if they are NOT doing anything wrong??? I am so TIRED OF IT!!!

the correctional officers will use policy to their own advantage every time, while passively harrassing you on every rule of policy. Since they now know you are bringing things up to the DW atention. The DW for this unit is only telling you what you want to hear polictically. You need to think outside the box. There is one thing ADOC hates and that is attention being brought on anyone or any unit negatively. Go above all their heads send letter to loacl counil members, congressman etc...make them put pressure on these c/o's to get them transferreed.

I understand having to follow the rules but to intimidate, antagonize and harass is just out of line. I would like to see CO Hayes go work in a level 4 yard and see how well she does. Those inmates would not tolerate her behavior for one minute! She really seems to get off on writing tickets for the smallest and most ridiculous of offenses. Why can't she be moved somewhere else? CO Glenn seems to be doing a pretty good job when she leaves at 2:00 every day. I don't see why he can't just take over.

I don't think that CO Glenn can take over. I heard that a woman has to be in charge of visitation. Wait...is CO Hayes a woman??
